Created this thread for window washing and equipment related discussions.
I’ll contribute by attaching some pictures of window washing equipment.
There are different types of equipment for window washing, but the most common are BMUs (Building Maintenance Units), davit systems, and anchor points, which usually sit on the roof of a building.
@mburrrrr this thread is for you.
First, CIBC Square’s BMU. (Phase 1)
Swing stage.
160 Front. The rooftop has an opening where the BMU is stored in. When in use, it’ll pop out. @mburrrrr has some pics of it in action.
Royal Bank Plaza. The swing stage for this building is different than other skyscrapers, as the design for the swing stage mimics the design of the protruding gold windows.
25 The Esplanade. This building uses anchor points and davit systems. In this picture, this is a davit system. In this case, they are working on the sealant for the exterior with a swing stage.
Monde. This condominium has a BMU. Although the BMU has actually had some problems, just like the L Tower. The L Tower still doesn’t have a working BMU, and are currently just washing windows with bosun's chairs instead of swing stages. @DSC took a picture of that on the L Tower thread. That might be the first time they have washed the windows since the building opened.
