How would Toronto's landscape look today had Toronto's New Fort York been completed as a traditional Victorian fortress, akin to Fort Henry, with glacis, trench, wall, forward battery, etc?
Here's a map of the fort grounds from 1840-1950. As you can see, it's not a traditional star fort like in Halifax or Quebec, but more of a bastion and forward battery fort, like Fort Henry, or Brimestone Hill in St. Kitts.
Would Toronto of the 1950s simply smash down the fort to build the CNE, or instead keep it as an historic site and integrate it onto the waterfront?
