BlogTO posted this on their Instagram. It's supposed to be a "stadium downtown", and looks like a new build and way too small to be the rumoured Rogers Centre renovation. An announcement is supposed to come later this week.

They do, but there are longer-term plans to upgrade BMO Field to 40k capacity before 2026. BMO is a new and great stadium. I'm wondering if this is for the Toronto Wolfpack or a Toronto Canadian Premier League soccer team.

That's my guess. it would match the size of the building in the rendering. It's too small for baseball or soccer.

Yup, you're right. I'd say it's built over the tracks, where Rail Deck Park is supposed to be.

I'm not oblivious to BMO, but this is the World Cup, so 40k is not that much

40k is enough for the group stage and early knockout rounds. The smallest stadium for World Cup 2018,was 35k and most were between 42 and 48K. Later rounds would not be played in a 40J stadium though.
