So far as I can discern, we have not had an active 'General' thread for the Waterfront since about 2012.

Rather than revive that dormant thread, I will start this one to house this significant, 58 page report to Executive Ctte on October 27, 2021.

Report here: https://www.toronto.ca/legdocs/mmis/2021/ex/bgrd/backgroundfile-172179.pdf

Parts of this report are simply details/updates on on-going projects, bits are administrative housekeeping.
But there are some very key items in here, sure to give us much to talk about in the years ahead.

1) This report seeks to re-mandate Waterfront Toronto for another 20 years (it was set to wind down by 2028)

2) This report seeks to expand WT's mandate to the entire 43km waterfront, including all of Scarborough and Etobicoke.

Additional items include an increase in borrowing authority (already agreed to by the Province and the Feds); and increasing WT's authorities under the City (for actions not requiring Council approval) to what WT would
enjoy if it were a City Division.

*note that this should trigger a public engagement process of some kind as early as next month; which would wrap up in January of 2022.

Some additional info: (from the report)

It is anticipated that mixed use construction could begin in Villiers
Island as early as 2025/26, with first residential occupancy targeted for 2027/28.

Lots more in the report.
