Mod's I split this up into 2 threads as both sections will be different from each other, with this one taking a decade or 2 to build.

At this time, only the south side of Queen's Quay (QQ) will see any work and most of it will be temporary until there is funding for the whole thing. Some of that money may show up by 2018.

Thanks to Toronto Water Works, the cost to built this section has jump $100 million in cost on the ground both TTC and Waterfront Toronto must pay the full cost of moving and rebuilding lines since they are within the 3m range up from the 1m by policy changes by them, since they see a money tree to pay for replacing end of life lines as well infrastructure to meet the growing demand for new development south of Front St along the waterfront area. This should be under their cost since that there area or work in the first place.

Only temporary concrete sidewalk with asphalt for the Martin Goodmen Trail (MGT) is being built east of Yonge St in various phases.

Construction is underway for the Jarvis Slip retaining wall rebuilding that started in December 2012. Once it is completed, the new Jarvis Wave Deck will be built.

Later this year, new traffic lights will be install at Lower Sherbourne St and QQ to deal with traffic issues that are there now and in the future.

Since there is no restriction on the width of the east QQ Revitalization for this section, the distance between building faces will increase a little bit from the western section and I forgot what that figure is at this time.

Construction started last year on the temporary MGT up to Jarvis St. This year we will see 2 temporary phase 2 and one permanent phase 1 take for the rest of the MGT over to Parliament St and the Lake Shore from Lower Jarvis St.

Phase 1 will be for a permanent one for the first phase 1 of Eastbay development starting at Lower Sherbourne going east. It will also start from where the future streetcar ROW will start, going south of it only. Phase 2 will be for the temporary section will be on both sides of Phase 1.

The Lake Shore/Parliament/QQ intersection will be built as plan with a new east side crosswalk with temporary concrete sidewalk and the MGT.

Phase 3 will be the building of the streetcar ROW when money is found to do it, subject to a study for Temporary Transit in this area. I have made it known under the Queens Quay East BRT thread some of the ideas being looked at, at this time. There is about $90 million ready to be used for transit as throw away funds for this area. Not a good use of money that is badly needed in the first place.

Phase 4 will be for the north side as development take place along it as well having funds to do it.

With the rebuilding of the Parliament intersection, it will see the streetcar ROW loop on the east side of temporary MGT & sidewalk that has the loop curving north toward Lake Shore with a 2nd MTG on the east side of the loop as well.

An idea has been put forth that calls for the building of the streetcar ROW now, with buses using it if the ROW is an extra 1 meter wide to handle them. Tracks would be install during the building of the ROW and ready to go once that missing link funding is found west of Freeland. By doing it now send a clear message that rapid transit will be here one day with the buses using those stops now. If the ROW is built as plan, part of phase 2 will be upgraded to permanent construction. The poles for the overhead will be on the side of the ROW on the south side, except at stops which will have poles both sides being used for traffic lights. Its unknown at this time if transit signals will be with traffic lights like today or move to the bar lights. Bar lights are the way to go and should happen at all TTC current locations for ROW. Would cut down on drivers turning illegal on the current lights like they do today.

The Parliament loop will remain until the line is built over to Cherry St under future development for the Portland as well extending the QQ east to Cherry St. Then there is the need to rebuild the underpass at Cherry St so the QQ line can connect to the Cherry St line, but way down the road.

TTC is looking at extending the Parliament Bus over to Lower Sherbourne St to help to service George Brown College and the Waterfront. The Sherbourne bus may see increase of service.

Until the Transit Study is done, as well finding the funds to build the eastern section, everything is temporary construction.

Not sure what is plan for Redpath at this time, since there will be lights going in there as well an accelerate lane going east of the entrance for it.

Now is a good time to being forth any ideas for adding things to the area since this is the time to do so. It will help to see if and where they can fit in as well finding the fund to do so.

Some people have requested that a PATH system be built along the north side, but neither the City or Waterfront Toronto have plans to do it at this time, let alone the money. Even trying to do a Plus 15 walkway system is out of the question at this time.

NOTE: Why are things underline as link, considering I have no links in them????

There was a discussion about splitting the QQ thread and it seemed to me that the consensus was NOT to split it. If it is to be split then 'someone' should really move overa ll the recent QQE posts.

Since construction will be finished on QQW before shifting to QQE, it makes sense to keep the threads together since there won't be any overlap. Mods, please merge.

Disagree -- while there will be no overlap in construction, there will be lots of overlap in our discussion, and since the two projects are quite separate, it makes sense to have different places to discuss them. I would instead suggest that this thread be combined with the Queen's Quay East BRT thread, so that all the QQE discussion can be in the same place.

Because you hav to completely rebuild the tunnel including the loop without disrupting current service or disrupting the streets (or buildings) above. I can see that, yes.

You are going to disrupt service when it comes time to built the portal, as it will have to be 100% rebuilt and that will be 1 year of no service.

At the same time, a decision will have to be made about the Bremner connection as the centre support will have to be remove to make the connection.

At the same time, a new north loop track will have to be built to service the new side tracks/platforms.

No matter which way you want to cut it, service ""WILL" be disrupted between 1 to 2 years, as well costing more than plan for.

The plan for the surface streetcar proposal is dumb and put there to kill the idea of a surface Bay St route.

You could have the Bay St line up and running under a year, but will require the current QQ line to be disrupted to fill in the current portal as well built the T connection and that should take less than 6 months. The rest of the tunnel/loop north from the Bay/QQ station would remain, as it could be used at a future date for the Bremner line if it every happens.
