I'm going to be visiting Toronto for a day of shopping and need to get a day pass. I was wondering if there was a TTC ticket agent either at exhibition loop or in the King/Spadina area. If all else fails, I can always stop by a subway station but I'd rather not go out of my way if i don't have to.

Also, is there a directory of ticket agents on the internet somewhere, or perhaps a google map? It would seem like an excellent business move for the TTC.

There isn't a directory. They really should have one.

Almost any convenience store is a ticket agent. There would certainly be one in Liberty Village, such as the Metro supermarket.

I'm actually finding TTC ticket agents fewer and farther between. I remeber going into every variety store on Queen W between Bathurst and University last year and not one was a ticket agent. By that point, there was no need for one as I could just buy my fare at the subway anyway.

Actually, in fairness, I think one was, but was sold out.

The whole ticket agent and payment system is very outdated and inconvenient. Why cant the ttc use electronic media like smart cards, sms tickets on cell phones instead of the 19th century system that they have?

I would love to see an automated fare system. It takes so damn long for everyone to pay, get transfers, etc., it really bogs down the buses and streetcars, especially if there is a crowd waiting (hello Dufferin bus!).

Also would cut down on conflict between drivers and passengers who try to get away without paying full fare. I've spoken with a number of drivers and this seems to be one of the top complaints of the job.

From the TTC web site:
Authorized Ticket Agents

Tickets, tokens and passes are also available at over 1,200 TTC Authorized Ticket Agents in Toronto. For the locations of Authorized Ticket Agents, call Customer Information at 416-393-INFO (4636) and select "0" for Operator Assisted Service - available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, except statutory holidays.

Would prefer to see a list online, but either broken or missing.

there's a convenience store and also SDM sells it too at Spadina and Queens Quay.
