TTC Streetcar network

I am starting this thread to learn more about the current, past and future of the streetcar network. I cannot find a thread on it, so, let's start.

The first thing I think of is since Toronto is laid out in a grid, would it make sense to have a streetcar along all major streets? Even along Yonge or Bloor, having a streetcar that stops more often could do well in adding ridership to the area, and may even alleviate some ridership from the subways.

There is a great deal about the TTC streetcar network in other threads so I am doubtful it's useful to set one up specially for this topic. In fact, there is one with this EXACT title. https://urbantoronto.ca/forum/threads/ttc-streetcar-network.27667/ It has over 200 posts.
