Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Good discussion but I think it misses the possibility of refurbishing the SRT as guided busway, not just a bus roadway. Those have not been a huge hit, but there are a handful of functional ones. If you take a look at the ones in Australia and the UK, they look as though they would fit in the existing structure, with the possible exception of the tunnel, and could likely be laid down out of prefab elements.
What's the difference between it being turned into a BRT or an LRT. At this point I doubt we are going to see anything done with it except for it to be closed and probably torn down once the subway opens if it ever does.

The row and especially the guideway is too narrow for two busses and they would have to spend a lot of money to retrofit the stations. More work than its worth if they think refurbishing the trains again is too pricy

Perhaps they could implement those trackless trams to fit better.
Aren't we talking significant investment to retrofit? If we were going to go this way, why not just fix up SRT and forget the subway extension? If anything, if a small investment could keep the system working for another 7 years that might make sense. Otherwise, abandon it and use the shuttle bus solution.

No it is actually not, which is my point.

This article was just posted but: https://stevemunro.ca/2021/02/07/recycling-the-srt/ explains how it doesn’t work with the existing infrastructure in most places. Ive also spent entire looking into the feasibility of this and it just isnt cost efficient enough for the ttc to implement. Aside from width of the guideway and the segment from Lawrence east to Ellesmere, the station roofs seem to be too low for the busses to clear given the roadway will have to be quite a bit higher than the current tracks to match platform levels. It’s possible of course, but would end up being very expensive, and if the ttc isnt willing to spend an extra 200mil or so to refurbish the current rt fleet vs just buying more busses and expanding bus bays, they’re certainly not going to spend what it would cost to turn the rts right of way into a temporary busway

Yes. Thank you David Miller for replacing a perfectly reworkable Lim system with a god awful LRT. Thank god for the SSE, short term pain for long term gain.
Well you speak for yourself... not everyone

Imagine thinking this poll isn't biased based on its target audience, the phrasing of questions/answers, the lack of an option for LIM, the lack of representation by the individuals that would actually use the service, and the fact that the sample size is far too small to have any sort of merit.

Also, the poll is split 50/50 between those that are in support of the subway (angry at delays + delays okay esp when subway opens) and those that support the LRT, and while everyone is obviously entitled to their opinion, the fact of the matter is that this poll accomplishes nothing.

Yes, trust a poll from a publication that built itself under "ford man bad".

Its like thinking that a poll conducted in a fox news article about the democrats totally wouldn't paint the democrats as bad or evil.
you do realize using your own analogy, that The Star is the CNN aka the sane ones while the Sun (supporters of this transit choice) are the Fox News.
