Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

But the LRT is 10 times better because the subway extension is far more expensive and we won't be able to fund other projects like the EELRT(Eglinton East LRT) And like Recce said, we can simply upgrade the RT with a light rail system and make it look nicer and fix all the present problems. And we could have it with full ATO running, platform screen doors. And a potential extension for under the cost of the subway extension. Mind-blowing every politician is in support of this subway extension!
That is not at all what Reece said, he argued that we should keep the skytrain technology and expand that because converting the line to LFLRT would be prohibitively expensive, something a lot of subway advocates (including myself) would be alright with.

Ontario’s Progressive Conservative government has convened an expert panel to consider potential changes to the Yonge North and Scarborough subway extension projects, including the possibility of building portions of the lines above ground and reducing the number of planned stations, the Star has learned.

Although the panel has yet to make its recommendations, its mandate appears to open the door to building new rail lines above ground in Toronto’s suburbs. That would mark a drastic departure for Premier Doug Ford, who during his time as a Toronto city councillor joined with his brother, then mayor Rob Ford, to oppose surface rail lines, claiming suburban riders “deserve” underground subways...

Who are or is in the "expert panel"? Personally, if Steve Munro is not in it, it is just yes-men and yes-women for Doug, who don't even use public transit regularly.

It's actually not a bad to be above ground because the subway can use the RT corridor. Of course they would have to fix it first but it'll cut costs. The drawback is that we'll be buses but we would be on buses to STC anyways under the Ford Government.

My only question is how do we connect this with the Sheppard East Subway.

If I remember correctly the original RT extension was going to go through Centennial College then north to Sheppard elevated so they could use that. Or simply extend the Sheppard subway directly to STC.

That will be hard, since Kennedy is on an east alignment, it will have to make a wide turn and there won't be enough room to construct a wider right of way so the stouffville tracks will have to be temporarily unable to use and the dream of go rer and smarttrack will be gone. The elevated guideway will need major construction and the corner at ellesmere. The platforms and stations will need massive rehabilitation and made accessible and spiced up. It's possible but we may be losing a lot. LRT would've taken its place better
