TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Any whispers of 4527 leaving TB? It’s been almost two weeks since it was pictured on a flatcar

It’s here in Toronto somewhere, as is 4528. 4529 was on a train that got parked up north. Havent’t heard whether it has left Sudbury.

Just saw 4528 getting towed southbound Bathurst at Dundas. Any reason why a car would be towed on arrival like that ?

It's not uncommon. While in most cases they are able to do the initial checks and powering-on at Hillcrest, sometimes they aren't, or sometimes the car doesn't respond. In those cases, the car gets towed to Leslie, and they will do what they need to do there.

Ah, makes sense. I have seen other arrivals under their own power heading south from Hillcrest, didn’t realize they would need to have a car at Leslie if something were to be not working.

From a delivery perspective does that car count as delivered if it needs to go to Leslie first or is that just business as usual?

A number of cars have been tow to the Barns over the years for various reasons and have very impact on doing testing.

As soon as the car is off loaded, its class delivery to TTC. Until the car is ready for service, its still a BBD car. Once TTC class the car ready for service and sign off to BBD, it becomes a TTC car.

4526 is ready for service for Sunday by the looks of things.

Fixed that for you. 4426 entered service in 2016, so I doubt it is entering service tomorrow.

They need a car at Hillcrest no matter what - it is needed to pull the new car off of the flatcar. If the new car doesn't power up, or has some issue that prevents it from powering up, it will hang around and pull it back to Leslie. If it powers up, it usually leaves a couple of hours earlier.

The car is delivered once it hits TTC property, but that doesn't mean that it's the TTC's yet. It still needs to go through Post-Delivery Inspection, testing, outfitting of additional components, if any, and its burn-in run before it is finally accepted and released for revenue service. Only once it is accepted does it become TTC property.

4526 is in service on 510. None of the trackers could find the car at 7 am and only one showing it now
