The TTC, City of Toronto and the Toronto Port Authority have come to a deal regarding a number of outstanding monetary issues:
- The City will pay the TPA $11.7 million to cover off payments for the land it took from the TPA (and/or the Toronto Harbour Commission) back in the 90s
- The TPA will pay the City more than $6.4 million for outstanding Payments in Lieu of Taxes from 1999 to 2009
- The City will pay the TPA $380,000 for outstanding user fees for Island Ferry passengers and the TPA will charge the City the same as is being charged for charter boats from now on (6 cents per passenger)
- The TTC will buy 18 acres at Lakeshore and Leslie for $1 to build a new light rail yard.
This appears to be subject to approval by City Council, which has it on the agenda for their November 30-December 1 meeting. ( Background Materials )
I believe that this should clear up just about all the outstanding legal issues surrounding the TPA.
In other news, the federal government is paying to build a new aircraft rescue and firefighting shelter at the airport.

The airport will receive $893,750 to cover the cost of the aircraft rescue and firefighting shelter, which includes the addition of an extra bay, with an exhaust system, to the existing maintenance garage and firefighting facility. Construction will begin immediately, and the shelter is expected to be complete by the end of March 2010.
