Some buildings under the Gardiner would be beneficial but only if they don't cover the whole width of the Bentway. If they do, as depicted above, I agree that they block the Bentway rather than contribute to it.

I'm thinking a drive thru LCBO directly above this one would be just the ticket--they could tack on some extra retail tax to compensate for the lost road toll revenue Wynne took away.

A while since any updates on West Block, given that it is one of the larger projects currently underway. Here are several photos from Wednesday, August 30 - starting with an overview picture, followed by several images of specific areas now underway.

City Council just approved amendments to the zoning bylaw here that will allow two single-storey buildings to be added under the Gardiner Expressway (while reducing the number of surface parking spaces from 67 to 26). The idea is that the single-storey buildings will better integrate this complex with The Bentway. A rendering can be seen in this post further up the page.

No, if anything it's the opposite. It's a few single level retail buildings blocking the Bentway underneath the gardiner, complete with surface parking.

I find this is very interesting and a refreshing use of an area that has been so long neglected . This commercial areas combined with the bentway will enhance rathe than stymy the experience under the Gardiner. Also to begin a sentence when responding to someone's opinion with 'No' is well.... 'annoing'
