Toronto Waterlink at Pier 27 | 43.89m | 14s | Cityzen | a—A

The province should buy the rust bucket, refurbish it, renovate it and make it into a snazzy casino on Toronto's Waterfront.....what an attraction that would be with thousands of people coming to visit. Come to think of it, they should moor a bunch of ships and make them all casinos and nightclubs all along the waterfront. Tourists would flock to the Toronto waterfront in droves, wanting a piece of the action while enjoying Toronto's new urban aquatic playgrounds. Toronto would be happy, the province would be happy, and the thousands of tourists visiting would also enjoy it. The only thing I'd be concerned about is parking in this area, where would all the cars go???

I took a walk through the site today: Redpath produces a hypnotic hum, and there is a scent of caramel on the breeze. On the downside, it is cold as brass underwear on Queen's Quay in January.

Thanks for the pics, College. Its a tough stretch of the imagination this time of year and this stage of development, but this truly will be an in incredible place to be in, in a few years.
..and all the development that is about to explode all around this area in a few years...
For anyone who has the vision to see ten years down the pipe, they will reap the reward of a spectacular investment.
We truly live in an exciting time. (assuming the city doesn't go bankrupt in the meantime)
 
There were two groups of women walking though the sites along Queen's Quay as well, in spite of the cold, and I never before have bumped into construction site paparazzi. I think that development along this stretch captures the imagination fairly easily.

Yeah, lot nice things are going to be happening down there, hopefully we will also see a re-clad of The Star building, or maybe even demolition with new development on that site.:)
 
Re-clad? But ... but ... but ... it took almost 40 years for the peanut brittle cladding on 1 Yonge to set completely.

God, we took three steps into the place, couldn't smell anything but the innards of fish and stale furniture, not to mention there were only two patrons... and so we decided to bolt.

Maybe the food is still good, but the place really would need an overhaul to be successful again!

We ignored the time warp and ate the food and let's just say the food and service is on par with the decor. You made the right choice. I wasted money.
 
Years ago, my mother came to visit from out of town. Not knowing any better, one day we went to Captain John's for dinner. All I will say about it is that to this day, my mother refers to that visit as 'the visit where we went to that disgusting boat restaurant'.
 
I want there with my father eons ago... He insisted because that ship, the Jadran, used to sail along the Yugoslav Adriatic coast, and my dad has fond memories of being on that ship 30-40 years ago.

The restaurant is owned by a Slovenian (John=Janez) and we had a lot of fun talking to him, however I will never forget how shitty the food was. Back then I was a child and didn't like seafood anyway, so... Good to know it hasn't changed!
 
I dunno I kinda like the idea of a restaurant on a boat. It's a shame that from the looks of it that idea doesn't really float :(
 
It seems Toronto wouldn't be the same unless Captain John's remained a crappy restaurant :p

It's too bad Restaurant Makeover didn't redo the place.
