Toronto Vita on the Lake | 177.08m | 53s | Mattamy Homes | Graziani + Corazza

This tower will classify as downright one of, if not the worst tower to go up in the Humber Bay Shores community. The bar was set pretty low to come up with a compelling design, but Mattamy and G+C saw that bar and apparently decided to go way under it.

Everyone needs to make money somehow. I get it. UT can't survive on criticism alone.

That being said - this looks like a chunkier casa. Nice to see the balconies tinted though and not clear. But so boring. Toronto needs to move past this type of architectural expression.

I actually appreciated the honesty in the rendering. It clearly shows window wall with some spandrel. Balcony dividers are illustrated. I assume that the final product should look pretty similar to what is illustrated.

This proposal is by no means great, but it's far from the worst.

Nice ! The building"s facade has a dark look to it on the rendering. When will they start building?

Very ordinary for the Etobicoke Waterfront.
Nothing special to please our eyes.
It shame that this building will hide Jade Waterfront and partially Eau de Soleil.

It's like a monotonous Lago complete with it's own Riva del Lago. Although I can say I'm glad that they are going with a glazing colour other than blue/green. Humber Bay will look like a minimalist Dubai Marina by the time all of those buildings are done.

Sorry I must've not realized I clicked on Buzzbuzzhomes or whatnot..

Designed by Graziani + Corazza Architects, the project includes a five-storey base broken up into multiple volumes, framed by ground-level landscaping designed by gh3. Above the podium, the vertically-extruded tower uses dark-tinted glazing and white underpainting on the wraparound balconies to create a simple, elegant structure.

Should read:

"Above the podium, the inappropriately scaled tower uses cheap window wall and dark spandrel hidden behind vaguely opaque, poorly executed wraparound balconies to create a dumbed down, hulking mass that could've been designed by throwing crayons onto a wall"

Should add:

"Even though Mattamy/Biddington has engaged the creativity-deficient G+C architects, they also saw fit to remove any architectural flourishes in order to present us with exactly what is wrong in Toronto's development industry."
Hmmmm, but developers never present their condos with that type of description. They always use the description that describes the best of the best. Overall I think this is around mediocre.

From yesterday: a new parking lot is being built on the site of Vita Two right now, so that the current one can be closed and work can start on Vita.
