Aside from the older homes in the northwest segment of the ring(which are charming and hopefully will never be lost), the only disappointment is the utter mediocrity of the buildings around the circle.
I disagree.

Aside from the older homes in the northwest segment of the ring(which are charming and hopefully will never be lost), the only disappointment is the utter mediocrity of the buildings around the circle. It's a shame that they were constructed at a time when little consideration or sympathy was given for the curves of the circle. Hopefully as downtown expands ever westward, someday we'll see new complimentary architecture that follows the contours of the circle and only enhances this "new" public realm!

I would argue that the Borden buildings are also interesting, if not architecturally then definitely historically.

CAMH I find far less interesting.

The landscaping is admittedly pretty strong. It's the only part of the project I give a passing grade, but it's strong. The textures and details are interesting, and it feels like they've created a real landscape, even where it's flat and level, by use of textures to denote different areas.

Meanwhile, inside the building, spaces are already being shuffled around, re-programmed, renovated, and expanded. The entire first school year of its operation it felt like it was designed for another program and now we're having to adapt it; very odd.

@PatM, please use the 'Upload a File' function to put up your photos: people will actually get to see them!

Rear landscaping is coming together quite nicely and should be a great space in the summer.
Pathways were open last night (a couple of rainy night shots below)

The building is gorgeous, but obviously that is not enough. I don't mean this to sound trite; there's no school in all of the U of T which is better suited to tapping its own faculty and students to fix the issues here. No doubt it's going to take more than just better use of existing space, so I am curious about what physical changes will be made in upcoming months and years to tackle the problems. @modernizt, hopefully you'll be able to let us know about any solutions that improve the situation.

I'd be hard-pressed to find a sorrier example of whining in my life. Unbelievable. As someone said, you're architects fix it yourself?

I agree that the landscaping is pretty underwhelming, especially if you're a pedestrian on street-level. How it looks in areal photos is overrated and kind of irrelevant.

The structures from College to Harbourd on the East side of Spadina are eclectic, fine-grained and sprinkled with fine little courtyards. Will be exciting to see the Victorian townhouses on the West-side gentrify. Very slow to happen so far, I assume some speculator is sitting on them. The Daniels effort is really fine, they are good people. There's a Modern kid's school that is interesting, which looks like it's getting refurbished.

Update from Sept 17

The landscaped hills/walls have grown in quite nicely!

Bit unrelated but noticed the other day that the windows at Load Lansdowne PS were being replaced. Hoping that they keep the red...
