Toronto Theatre District Residence & Riu Plaza Hotel | 156.05m | 49s | Plaza | BDP Quadrangle

Levels ~2-10 are visually interesting and I appreciate the texture, even if I think the colour is iffy.

Everything else is a misfire here IMO.

I get that some folks are not appreciative of this building for what it could have been. However, when comparing to its surrounding neighbours such as the Baka Nobu, Peter and Spandrel'aide, et al...this becomes the Taj Mahal. >.<

Agree, I'm very surprised that this got singled out for scorn. The tower portion, like most in Toronto, is quite ordinary but I love the brick podium. The repetitive vertical breaks are pleasing and the colour choice adds warmth to the street wall. It's nicer that a good 80% of what's been built the last 5 years.

Unpopular opinion; but I'm not a fan of hipster single floor retail with double/triple height ceilings and exposed concrete/pipes etc. I prefer regular ceiling heights, or double story atrium/arcade retail.

What does ‘hipster’ even mean here? Has anyone even said ‘hipster’ in the last 5 years?

Probably? But not using that word per say...as the internets tend to evolve words, terms and goal posts in "fascinating" and unusual ways at times.

Hi there, long time reader, first time commenter. Based on previous timelines for other similar buildings, anyone have any idea as to around when occupancy would be, or if there are any chances of delay?

Factoring in general timeline of similar buildings and possible construction impact variables, my estimate would be Spring 2024 for occupancy.

Any update if the 28 Wildmar st condos completion date has changed from Nov 23 theatre district condos with RIU Hotel)

The facade on both towers is ghastly, and the balconies just might make it even worse. What were they thinking?
