It wasn't when I checked last night. Not sure about when the shoring will start, but they are building the sales centre now, expecting to open it in the late summer or early fall… don't know where it's going though. We'll know more soon!

But do they need to sell anything before starting on the retail podium? I thought they were in a rush to get started to open the retail portion as early as 2018.

The only thing to that regard I think we ever got was an assertion to that end from Mizrahi himself, which I would certainly take with a grain of salt. Planning has been operating under the assumption that this would move forward in pretty quick order once the OMB decision came down, and I'd be very surprised if Mizrahi thought any differently based on that knowledge.

The sales centre isn't necessarily on site.

They have had shoring permits filed since november remember, this is eager to go once the OMB decision comes down.

So if they got the equipment and manpower ready, there's no reason why they can't start digging tomorrow morning. I'm excited to see this one rise!

Well they still need building permits.. and they have to formally wait for the notice of decision to be issued from the board to receive zoning. We know that is on its way, but it's not here yet. Not quite tomorrow.

Remember that they have a shoring and excavation permit and they don't need this decision to start.

OMB Decision

Edit: it's now an 82-storey tower, including 7 podium floors (down from 9)

The decision of the Board is to allow the appeal, in part. The re-zoning is approved and at the request of the parties and with their consent, the Board’s Order is withheld to allow time for agreement on the final form of the By-law. The Board’s Order is also withheld pending finalization between the City and the Applicant of a Heritage Easement Agreement, preparation of a Conservation Plan and execution of a s. 37 Agreement. The Applicant and the City are optimistic that all the issues relating to the Site Plan can be resolved and as a result, that matter is adjourned sine die.
