It was raining. The ironworkers can't/won't work in the rain. Heat is fine, cold is fine, snow is fine, but rain or wind will shut down an erecting gang. Only exception might be to unload a truck or secure a site.Based on the photos posted throughout the day, it looks like there were no workers anywhere on site today? Odd, given how much was going on last week, including the elevators and area above the ramp. Hope all is well!
What I love about this pic the most is how similar it is to skyscraper construction sites in China. The massive ironwork going up paired with people on bicycles, almost looks like something from Shanghai.
The base width appears to be at least 5 meters smaller than 2 Bloor West which google maps measures as 37 m wide. I was curious to picture how a roughly 300m tall tower looks from street level so had a little sketch up fun by doubling 2 Bloor's current height. For comparison 432 park avenue in NY square base is 28.5 m wide. The one may not come close to 432's huge height to width ratio but is quite remarkable – The gold outline attempts to show the approximate proportion of The One. Anybody know what the actual width is? On a side note: 2 Bloor’s stacked/wedding cake mock up is reminiscent of BIG’s design for Two World Trade Center for some reason. It would have been cool to see that design also get built close to the current 2 world trade center. Oh well…hope you don’t hate my mediocre attempt at 3d modeling hah…p
Do you ever leave your place? If you live right there ya wanna take more ground shots... thanks. We appreciate it. One above shot is great and all but seeing as your literally right there. You should be the one taking all the pics from every angel. I would. No disrespect to you and do appreciate what you post. but just an observation that I had to ask. And laugh about.
I guess it will be like they did the floor for the ground level. So they will need scaffolding to hold the forms/ rebar for the concrete:I'm quite interested to see where this goes from here. Do we see some large scaffolding reach up to pour the second floor slab? Does it just keep going up in steel for a while? What happens?
You know that when someone says “no disrespect” that is exactly what they are doing don’t you? I’m not getting paid to take photos of The One, I have a full time job that is even more stressful since the pandemic started. So no, I don’t just sit around at home waiting to take photos of this site. When I think of it and I’m on the street I’ll take some photos from the street, but that isn’t everyday that I’m on Yonge or even Bloor. In my first post I was apologetic, but on second thought there is no reason for me to feel apologetic.Do you ever leave your place? If you live right there ya wanna take more ground shots... thanks.
