We gotta go pretty deep for that still...moving at a pace though!
If they are proceeding with the top down approach, they only excavate 1 level, pour the Concourse level and Ground level slabs before proceeding upwards (ie, installing a crane)

I think what's going on now is that machine on the right in the above pics is installing tiebacks between the piles that were driven earlier. It will go around the perimeter of the site then they will dig down a bit more then more tiebacks are put in. This will continue until they hit bottom. So it will be a slow gradual excavation. Correct me if I'm wrong if there are any construction experts out there.

That's a good point. I inquired a while back if that was the intended method for this one but never got a definitive answer - exciting if that's the plan!

does anyone know why are they saving that little house..? thank you

To remember our past. (I think it was considered a historical facade so they couldn't demolish it like the rest of the buildings).

Today’s update. A few of the model and then a couple from above the site.

Yes it must be a pain to work around that thing. I gnerally like saving old buildings and I don't even mind some facadism but in this case it wouldn't have bothered me if they had taken it down. Not sure what they're planning to do with it but hopefully something special to make it stand out. A nice event space with a classy period interior or maybe an art dealer would be nice.

I love it. It shows that not only do we have striking contemporary buildings but also an interesting history that spans centuries. It adds more interest to the streetscape than mere expanses of glass.

i only wish we actually had a history that "spans centuries" though... :(
based on what i could find on doors open toronto day, there is almost nothing before the 1900's...
