West Queen West hearing adjourned

It appears Baywood is really not doing so well financially ... first selling sites, then requesting to adjourn OMB hearings for their sites in WQW due to 'current economic climate' ??

from Novae Res Urbis today:

In a decision issued March 27, board member Peter Atcheson adjourned appeals by Baywood Homes (2147789 Ontario Ltd.) against failure of the city to approve zoning by-law amendments to permit development of a 15-storey mixeduse building at 2-6 Lisgar Street and a nine-storey mixed use building at 1093 Queen Street West, southwest of Dovercourt Road and Queen Street West.

Baywood Homes requested the board adjourn the hearing sine die, citing the current economic climate as the reason for the request. The board was informed that city council voted to support the zoning by-law amendments for the Lisgar Street and Queen Street West sites. The city supported
the adjournment and both sides agreed that more time was required to finalize the details of the amendments and site plan.

The board complied with the request, adjourning the hearing sine die.

Solicitor Ron Kanter (Macdonald Sager) represented Baywood Homes. Solicitor Thomas Wall represented the City of Toronto. (See OMB Case Nos. PL080992, PL080993 and PL081527.)

Could this mean that the city is caving in on developers demands for fear of a slow-down in the construction industry?

If so ... typical spineless city council.

It was only a mater of time before we heard more on this project since the sales office is no longer needed for the current project that almost finished now.

It will change the look of this area for the good, once built.

The sales office is close and the building is being painted.

The application for the site is gone.

1093 Queen Street Development Community Meeting

I invite all residents to attend a public meeting to review the proposed plans for the possible redevelopment of 1093 Queen St. W before a site plan application is filed with the City.

The developer intends to propose the construction of a 9-storey mixed use building with a 2-storey podium along Queen St., a 5-storey podium along Dovercourt Rd., residential units along the laneway and Dovercourt Rd, and retail along Queen Street. The applicant proposes 110,000 square feet of residential space and 10,000 square feet of retail/commercial space.

This session is an opportunity to come and see what is being proposed and to contribute your ideas to the process before a site plan application is submitted.

This corner should have no problem getting approval from the city for the above.
I agree.

I noticed they were core drilling at Gladstone/Queen St on the south east corner and guess this one is now going to move ahead now that the other project is completed.

They are in the process of updating the sales office with the new logo and signs.

Baywood is still part of this project since their name is on the new sign as well.
