I'm gonna guess they won't bother hanging the scoreboard until it's actually needed (whenever the Rock return). With no hockey tenant deal signed, kinda makes sense that it's not a very high priority.
 
Some of the areas I could see on the CH video, it looks like the ice level concession area are unfinished and exposed concrete like they were before, just with what looks like a few movable concession stands set up.

I hope I'm wrong as I was imagining a complete revamp of that level as the new "marquee" concourse.

I think the ice/event level is only meant to be a partial concourse. The one that has been hyped the most is the new one at street level.

I'm getting l trying to picture it, street level would include the old bulldog offices and I guess the area under what used to be the York Blvd exit stairs. If it goes all the way to the Library, I guess that adds a bunch of concourse.

Would be nice if ice level concourse is done up as well.

I wonder if they'll do tours, I'm not sure when I'll get there for an actual event, would love to see all the new spaces.
 
Do we think we see any proposals for hotels down here over the next few months/years? I know HUPEG snagged a few properties nearby, including a parking lot off Vine St. and the one-storey building by the Mosque on York Blvd. Both would be good candidates for a hotel.
 
One might think that IN8 could pivot part of its development to partner with a hotel chain. I am sure the Sheraton is clicking its heels gleefully with the reopening
 
They are doing the Coppley boutique hotel just a block away. Core Urban explicitly stated that that would not be a thing without the arena redevelopment.

Hamilton is pretty lacking in quality hotels, especially downtown. Would be nice to have one or two that are Sheraton level or better.

It would be great if the City Centre spot could be developed into some kind of signature destination/attraction. The proposed condos seemed pretty crappy and a waste of an amazing spot.
 
Definitely possible. Hotels are returning as a major growth industry in ways we haven't seen in decades and this is definitely going to drive hotel demand downtown.

There is the new Hampton Inn downtown and now a Hyatt going in on Longwood, kind of close to downtown, plus CoreUrban's new boutique hotel in the Coppley Building.. but definitely space for more hotel space.
 
Wasnt there also some speculation that Vranich with its building at King and Caroline (beside MAc) would have a portion of its build as a hotel?

It originally had a hotel in it but it was removed later in the approvals process to be all apartments.

Vranich is a hotel builder at his core though so look to see if he does any other new hotels downtown. His next Hamilton project should be the Market St block north of the Hampton Inn.
