Toronto Sugar Wharf Condominiums (Phase 1) | 231m | 70s | Menkes | a—A

Jury is still out for me on those cow splotches...though admittedly they do work at certain angles and distances, but not with all. I think my primary beef is their monochrome use of colour makes them quite depressing to look at, even on days of sunshine and blue sky. Thusly, it really does embrace Toronto the grey. And not in the best of ways, IMO.

Nah, they work fine. In a world where 70+ storey towers are background buildings, it's fine to just let things like this play a supporting part. Yeah, yeah, 'waterfront'...I'm not really concerned. If we really cared, we'd enact some concrete policy to this effect, but, as Lifetime / DiamondCorp are proving, we can absolutely put up any utter garbage and no one in power will care.

Nov 16 the north/south road - east of the towers looks ready to open. Maybe on first occupancy?

It looks like they could pour and top out in the next 5-10 days. The last form was just put in place this week..

I think they are a uniqe edition to Torontos skyline

Was driven by on the Gardiner Expressway this weekend. I found the sugar crystal pattern quite playful and pronounced enough to create a fairly good impression. Not overly excited about the large podium. To be fair I'll check it out at ground level once it's complete.

Breath holding is not recommended - but the podium is (just about) OK while the towers do add some visual interest - I can see them clearly from my living room (and can't see the podium!)

what's keeping these small townhomes in the centre of the city from being torn down? looks like a good place for 2 new towers
Fortunately, most of them are part of Co-operatives so are NOT likely to be destroyed. Those on the right are part of David B Archer while those on the left are connected to the adjacent TCHC building. They are all part of the (award winning) St Lawrence redevelopment of the late 1970s and early 1980s that ran south of Front St to the rail berm from Lower Jarvis to Parliament.

They topped out the final west/taller tower.

Maybe the final pour? I’m not sure what they‘re building or how they are finishing it off. Blocks or more concrete.

7:40pm Saturday SE Tower. Working late? Occupied? With a 1,000 people moving in you’d think the real estate thread would have some more recent posts on occupancy.
