Toronto Star Nieghbourhood Map

Interesting map...Yorkville and Seaton Village are merged into the Annex, and Bickford Park into Palmerston.

On the Star map, much of the downtown core is unlabeled, including the Financial, Fashion and Entertainment Districts, while Summerhill goes south of the tracks.

I do not know about other areas but the little chunk between West of Runnymede, East of Jane, North of Annette and South of Dundas is all wrong on this map. Firstly, the boundaries. Never ever this area was connected with the areas north of the CPR tracks (Dundas St.). South of the tracks and North of the tracks have always been very different and unconnected communities. Secondly, the name of the area, as used by the residents and the real estate agents, has always been the Bloor West Village North. This area belongs to the Ward 13 - Parkdale-High Park and is officially called (by the City) the Runnymede-Bloor West Village. See here http://www.toronto.ca/demographics/cns_profiles/cns89.htm. North of the CPR belongs to a totally different ward(s).

What purpose does the Star have in re-defining the boundaries and the name?

What purpose does the Star have in re-defining the boundaries and the name?

They have no purpose. They are simply trying to make a map of the city's nabes and foster discussion (and there has been a lot of discussion and controversy). They have gone through various iterations, refining their map based upon feedback from the people who live in the city. They are still accepting feedback, and you're free to send them your comments. Although you may disagree, obviously someone in that area stated that those were the boundaries as they perceived them.
