Toronto Stanley Condominiums | 138.37m | 41s | Tribute | Core Architects

I'm thankful to be getting all this development (and some nice looking buildings) but they magnify how shockingly primitive and depressing so many of our buildings are. Those 2 buildings south of Stanley Condos look like they were dropped in from some oppressive Russian city in the Arctic. New Toronto meets Yakutsk.

It seems that developers not trying has been a constant in Toronto for a very long time. Hopefully when they take those down they won't replace them with 2019 versions of 'not trying at all' like can be seen just a block further south on Church.

Those two buildings south of Stanley aren't going anywhere. They're also not "developer" buildings per se. One's a small office building, the other, currently under renovation, is a Toronto Community Housing building.

And the TCHC building is currently getting gutted to IIRC turn into a womens shelter.

Even TCH has to upgrade their stock eventually. One has to wonder how. long it will take before attention diverts from developments like Regents Park and on to other housing that needs addressing.

The TCHC building is in the middle of getting completely gutted as we speak... look at the photo above.
