Progress on this seems to be moving at glacial speed (the old fashioned glacial speed, pre-global warming!). Of course Bondfield are the contractors and they appear to be having problems with other jobs or potential jobs. Getting the Queen/Victoria corner finished and the sidewalk re-opened seems to really be taking FAR too long.

Also, does anyone know when the 'phase 2' of this thread (the demolition of the Shuter Wing (Bond/Shuter) and the new ER) will start (I assume not until Phase 1 is done) and whether they actually have funding for it? The hospital website says:
"Renovations to existing hospital space will include nearly doubling the size of the Slaight Family Emergency Department and replacing the 100-year-old Shuter Wing with a new three-story structure on the corner of Bond and Shuter streets.

The project will also create a new, main door to the hospital at the corner of Queen and Victoria Streets. The Peter Gilgan Patient Care Tower will tie into adjacent buildings, and its lobby will connect on the first floor to a pedestrian highway running through the entire hospital to improve patient and visitor flow. "

.

It's not your imagination that this project has slowed.............

Article from Globe and Mail outlining Bondfields' serious problems in delivering public sector projects and in paying their subs!

And Bondfield strikes yet again. Like I said before, they need to be barred from submitting bids for a set minimum period of time in this province for public infrastructure projects. This game has gone on long enough.
