Who knows it can mean anything ... they are separate buildings ... but then why apply for a common parking garage.

If you look at the site, they do mention occupancy to be 4th quarter 2013 ... but not sure how much I would read into it.

LeftCoaster, a very reliable insider from SSP is saying that an announcement on a major tenant is expected soon, and accordingly Bremner Tower will indeed be moving forward.

It's nice to see another office tower going up in downtown Toronto. This will be the first time since BAC, RBC Centre and Telus House that downtown Toronto will have three office towers going up at the same time (i.e. MaRS 2, Bremner Tower and RBC Waterpark Place). I'm not includeing Sick Kids Research Tower as that is more of a hospital and research space than an office building. It's also noteworthy that we've had continuous office construction for the past six straight years:

2006-2009: Bay Adelaide West (1,152,000 sf)
2006-2009: RBC Centre (1,215,000 sf)
2007-2009: Telus House (780,000 sf)
2008-2011: PwC Tower (623,000 sf)
2007-2013: MaRS Centre II (750,000 sf)
2011-2014: Bremner Tower (700,000 sf)
2011-2014: RBC Waterpark Place (930,000 sf)

This should quiet all those criticizing our recent boom as being nothing but condos. Can't wait to see what's announced next... hopefully a big one.

Ramako:

A minor quibble - MaRS II doesn't quite belong in the list since it's not really a "traditional" office tower - more a mix of labs and offices similar to Sick Kids Research Tower, plus it is partially publicly funded as well.

Driving by this site yesterday on Simcoe, I noticed that a third tower crane has gone up on the Bremner Tower side of the site. I had assumed that this just meant that they wanted to get to grade faster...but now I suspect that it might lend support to the rumour reported by Ramako above.

I told him the same thing on SSP.

He needs to make a category for Research & Science Towers

2007-2013: MaRS Research Centre II
2010 -2012: Sick Kids Research Tower
2010 -2012 : Womens College Hospital Research Tower

Not exactly office, but thankfully not condo either.

There is also the St. Michael's Hospital Patient Care Tower. Not necessarily a Research Tower, but we could lump it into a Hospital / Research and Science category.

At the RBC Waterpark site, I did notice 3 shoring rigs, which is above the norm. Most sites have 2 shoring rigs, so it seems these guys are pushing to get this thing built asap.

Apparently you can add the Ice office component to it as well, which would be commencing soon as per the rumors on that thread.

And MaRS is almost entirely research space. The office space in it is for researchers/biotechs and it is to compliment their research space.

This will be the first time since BAC, RBC Centre and Telus House that downtown Toronto will have three office towers going up at the same time (i.e. MaRS 2, Bremner Tower and RBC Waterpark Place).

Don't forget the Queen-Richmond Centre. It's a baby at 300,000 sqft, but that's still more than most cities are getting.

100 Adelaide West is probably the furthest-along large office project in the queue after the above list (plus Queen-Richmond and York Centre at Ãce). That's another 600k+ sf. Also possibly out in the field chasing tenants is the office component of the two-tower Simcoe/Front development and Bay-Adelaide II.

Well that confirms that this office tower is a go and will not be capped..looks like 16 York (31s) will be next with an announcement of a lead tenant, and QRC-West which has commenced construction.

Any bets on the next one to break ground.

45 Bay (50s?), RAC-2 (44s?), 43 Simcoe (54s), 388 King W. (25s?), BAC-2 (45s), 30 Harbour (50s?), Globe+Mail (19s), 90 Harbour (31s),
171 Front (37s), 333 King E. (20s), 880 Bay (44s), 4800 Yonge (25s?)

That adds up to 444 stories of office floors. Admittedly they are in a variety of floor plates, but that still a huge amount of proposed office space. In terms of total height, that's over 6 FCPs worth of office floors. And then there are also the smaller increments of office space being proposed, i.e. the redesign of 88 Scott which will now include office space.

43 simcoe has apparently had some rumblings about it.. but RAC-2and the ICE office tower seem to be the farthest along in development.
