All told, looks like it was a good day for the crane raising crew. The tower crane components were as sufficiently lifted into place and assembled that the mobile crane was packed up and drove away by 7:30 PM, with the tower crane final assembly and check-out activities completed and the boom lifted into its normal resting position by 8:40 in the evening. The full street closure booking, from 7 AM to 10 PM for both Saturday and Sunday, in case of unforeseen difficulties or delays, not needed, and the crew can enjoy the rest of the long weekend.

After the boom has been connected, one of the crew walks along the outside of the boom to detach the mobile crane's hoisting cables. Not a job I would want....

7:30 PM - Mobile craned packed up and gone, traffic cones removed and the street is open again.

Final touches and check-out.

8:40 PM - A job well done.

Unlike the installation of the first tower crane at Portland Commons, which sat idle for quite a while - for at least two weeks or more since its installation - after commissioning checks this morning, the second crane appeared to be working this afternoon.
