A proposed place of worship, community centre and gymnasium development designed by Parker Architects for Philpott Memorial Church. The proposal includes the demolition of two existing commercial buildings (164 & 168 King St E) to facilitate a 4-storey addition to the existing 1970’s Lincoln Alexander Centre at 160 King Street East in Hamilton's Beasley neighbourhood.

Renders from the DRP Submission of today:

These buildings date from the 1840's (around 180 years old), but were apparently in very poor condition prior to the fire and had been recommended for demolition already, as you can see in the rendering at the top of the page.

As an aside - I find Hamilton has a surprisingly large stock of very old buildings (i.e. 1850's and before) compared to Toronto, which seems to have a relatively small building stock from that time frame.

sigh another one falls to the dust of history, to be replaced most likely with some modern blocky glassy monstrosity..
