The design is pretty decent ... I like the fact that there is a good balance of glass, spandrel, brick and limited precast (rather than all precast + EIFS)

I hope the "potential future road" to the north materializes.

The NY Towers area is filling up quicker than I thought it would...makes me wonder how much longer the Bessarion/Talara/Caracas/Greenbriar blocks will remain un-redeveloped.

Given that there is directions from City Council to acquire the property (15 Kenaston Gardens) north of this proposed development site for a road right-of-way ... I feel pretty assured that the 'potential' future east-west road will happen sooner than later

Although I am not nuts about this design, at least it does not look like the hack job Faux buildings surrounding it.

Canesten.... yummm.

The architecture is... hideous. I hate this crap that can't decide if it will be tasteful faux-classicism or modernism. CHOOSE! Good modernism is far easier to do right. (And really high-quality modernism is a whole other story...).

in contrarary to the above comments ... I think this proposal looks pretty 'normal' with its brick + precast + glass combination, much a typical midrise building ... which is in sharp contract and much better looking than the substanital amounts of precast + spandrel on New York Towers, Empire, Rockerfeller, Chelsea, Merci, and The Bayview

in fact ... the more I look at this building, the more it reminds me of Beaverbrook Homes' The Max condos (Wilson+Keele) and Evolution condos (Dundas+Kipling) ... IMO they not terrible looking buildings

The Max condos still have those horrible cornices up top - Evolution's the better of those two buildings above: pleasing proportions - and this Kenaston Gardens project would look better were it more slavishly copying it.

SP!RE: just so you're certain of what I meant earlier - this building only looks acceptable in comparison to what's around it - it's still just a C grade building though.

It's still all horrible pillars at street/eye level, though. And where there isn't pillars, there's precast peninsulas.

It's not the greatest but it's a load and a half better than those neighbouring monstrosities. Unfortunately, you won't be able to see it from the highway too well and so, driving past here every morning on the way to work will still completely fill me with dread and disgust. Too bad.

This building, like most that Daniels builds, is under construction ahead of being marketed. It will be Toronto's only Rent2Own new condo.
