The idea of higher order transit along Erin Mills is so ridiculous. Burnhamthorpe is worthless too, and good luck dealing with protesters in Etobicoke.

And forget about the stupid downtown loop too. Just finish the Transitway, build the two long-proposed Transitway stations in the City Centre, and build the long-proposed secondary City Centre bus terminal.

What is the secondary city centre bus terminal?

What is the secondary city centre bus terminal?
Before the LRT, the second terminal was proposed to be located at along the north side of Rathburn between Centre View Dr and Hurontario Street to connect with the Hurontario transitway station. This is similar to the way the existing City Centre Transit Terminal was designed to connect to a Square One transitway station. The current Square One GO Station along Station Gate Road was meant to be temporary and be replaced by the transitway station. Of course, the Transitway through the City Centre was never built so these stations and the second terminal were also never built, hence the congestion we see in and around the existing City Centre and Square One GO terminals.

That so-called "Long Term Transit Network" omits not only a complete Transitway (with new stations at Ridgeway, Creditview, Square One, and Hurontario), but also the 407 Transitway (with stations at Britannia and Derry). You can still see them here:

There was also a proposed Transitway station at Mavis that has since been deleted. If they are smart, they will at least build an entrance/exit point for Mavis BRT buses to use the Transitway to get to CCTT/Square One Station.

So, abandon all future plans for higher order transit in Mississauga? Shall we just widen all the roads around the city and get it over with?

The environmental assessment and 30% design for a new Downtown Mobility Hub and Transitway Connection was awarded to Arup on 18 December 2025. See https://mississauga.bidsandtenders....r/Detail/36949b7a-dae6-4678-a4eb-b9d58ac731b7

It was also mentioned in this staff report to council on page 6: https://pub-mississauga.escribemeetings.com/filestream.ashx?DocumentId=83995 :

The Downtown Mobility Hub and Transitway Connection aims to complete the Mississauga Transitway through the Downtown Square One area along Rathburn Road, Station Gate Road, and Centre View Drive, between Mavis Road and Hurontario Street. The project includes replacing the existing City Centre Transit Terminal and GO Bus Terminal with a new underground Mobility Hub on the former Playdium site at 99 Rathburn Road. This segment was originally part of the Transitway Environmental Assessment completed in the 1990s. Between 2017 and 2021, Metrolinx led an Initial Business Case study, recommending the preferred mobility hub layout and transitway alignments. In 2019, the City allocated municipal funding to update the Environmental Assessment through a Transit and Rail Project Assessment Process (TRPAP) and advance the project from functional to 30% design, positioning it as shovel-ready for future funding opportunities.
The TRPAP and 30% design study commenced in January 2026 and is anticipated to take two years. During the study, future mobility hub land requirements will be assessed, and negotiations with stakeholders, such Metrolinx and the landowner, Oxford Properties, are expected to determine a preferred design and funding requirements.

Awesome news. Much needed to get the buses off Rathburn, the #1 bottleneck in Mississauga's transit network. The huge lineups for that left turn onto Rathburn a big problem for the 61 too. Still need Creditview and Ridgeway stations though...
