Some pics from August 23rd, 2024:

We'll start w/the planting beds on Bloor which have gone from weeds to flowers w/irrigation.

Note that the flowers are annuals, not sure about the grasses, they may be perennial but I think this is likely an interim condition with different plants to follow once the weather cools.

***

The passageway here is just too dark, you can see above it was bright and sunny, but even in August, this doesn't feel appealing, bright signage, flowers and lights will help immensely, but the massing simply doesn't support a narrow space like this.

* Final note, the Bestco (supermarket) has not begun any serious fit out (no finishes, no fridges, no lighting..........)

The corner unit at Bathurst and Bloor is actively being worked on with drywall going up. If I remember correctly it is going to be a French café/bakery.

I feel you—Mirvish Village definitely has potential that’s not being fully tapped into. I used to live nearby and always thought it could be so much more vibrant. A design competition could really help transform it into a cozy, car-free area with more benches, greenery, and cool spots to hang out. It’d be awesome to see it bustling like it deserves to be, especially with all the unique shops and galleries there.

Throwback to this documentary about Honest Ed & the now almost complete "Mirvish Village"
