Toronto Lower Don Lands Redevelopment | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

Couldn't get shots from the east end of Commissioner St due to excavators blocking the view of the bridge today.

Either my eyes were doing a number on me, or the bridge is on an angle in the current setup looking at it from the east end in relationship of the new Commissioner St.

.Both sections are now joined for the next phase for welding the joints together. Movers are still under both bridges at the joint area.

Photos should be up in the next 24 hours as there are other photos on front of it that were shot first.

As a note, the new Commissioner St road from the new Cherry St is slopping down to match the existing level of the current Cherry St road. I guess that has to do with the existing roads for the existing business until the current Cherry St road is bury after the new one opens.

Tried scrolling back- but was there an estimated completion date on New Cherry St. going active? They're making great progress, but we need that last bridge before Polson, right?

They need 2 bridges for the south end, but only one on order that will be for the road. That bridge is supposed to be here this fall with the Keating channel one next spring.

The plan was to have the new Cherry St and Commissioner St open by the fall of 2022 that will have an impact on the south LRT bridge.

By right, the LRT should be place first off the barge like the Keating Channel and then the road bridge. Because the LRT bridge wasn't order for the south end and Commissioner St due to lack of funds, it will cost a lot more to install them when they show up. The south end will be in a few years, but Commissioners will not be until 2040 at this time.

The whole area is to be open by 2024 other than buildings waiting to be built.

An extraordinarily thorough look at this project, with extensive, original photos, by Jack Landau is up at BlogTo.

I highly commend it to others ( I know, who would have thought it, from BlogTO, amazing what happens when you hire writers/photographers with ability)

Yes, it's a very good article with his usual great photos. It certainly sets a new standard for BlogTO contributors!

Interesting, I might have missed something but it looks like based on the map linked in that update that there will no longer be any promontory park north? Or are they just saying that or won’t be ready for 2024 but will still aim to be completed shortly after?

It doesn’t feature at all and it was one of my favourite parts of the plan :(

I believe it is not funded at this time.

Few timeline updates on page 42.

All delayed 1-6months

-Debris and sediment management area
-Commissioners bridge and Don roadway
-Cherry st Realignment
-Commissioners st west to new cherry st

Also both river parks are well over budget.
