Pardon the interruption @nfitz and @urbanclient. I'll just leave these here and see myself out.
Shots from this afternoon - Hurontario/Eglinton area

These are some great shots, as always. What's going on in the median of the bridge over the 403? Are those meant to be travel lanes? I could never tell when I'm driving past.

Looks like it's going to be PNR to the rescue again, to the surprise of nobody. . . At this point they should just have PNR or the other dedicated rail company inspect everything that has been laid down including works in progress and completed works.

This is going to be my last update in the Brampton corridor until next spring unless someone pings me about something they want me to look at.

After flying around yesterday and comparing old and new photos I have on hand, I was spit-balling on why the area around 407/Hurontario hasn't been open as of yet. The most logical thought is that they may want to use the new area for construction vehicle staging and work. I imagine once they have the new ties and rail delivered that they're going to want to just drop them in the new area so they can drag and drop things as required. Traffic configuration is going to be interesting. They may also want to keep the new lanes closed because the work on new lanes going NB isn't finished up yet. I assume that once the new lanes along the Brampton corridor are opened, they may be closer to moving everyone over with lane closures on the passing lanes. It's just too much weaving right now.

Topflight has ties stacked in the work area. Not sure how far they are on work done now, but the intersection is fully open again. Only thing to note is you're not allowed to make left turns on Topflight to go southbound on Hurontario.

Hurontario NB from 407 to Ray Lawson is still being graded and compacted, no surprise there. No work to continue past that until the new lanes are opened. Then they'll just grade everything else, save for the intersections.

Amico is moving SB in the NB lanes. Previously they were working around a manhole with a trench box located at Steeles/Hurontario. Looks like all they're doing is inspecting utilities and then paving over everything when they're completed. Nothing remarkable to call home about. I believe the same thing is happening on the opposite side as they prepare to shift traffic over next year to work within the median on the guideway.

Traction power substation section just south of the courthouse hasn't seen anything happen recently. Again, pretty unremarkable.

That's all for now.
PNR and A&B Rail are both doing trackwork now for the corridor. A&B Rail did Topflight along with the OMSF guideway. Looks like they're doing the trackwork from Hwy 401 north, along with the work from Square One Drive to Central Pkwy PNR is doing the work from Central Pkwy and most likely to Port Credit. Both companies are double and triple-checking the trackwork before concrete is poured.

I saw some work on the substation area a few weeks ago, and until the substation arrives, there's nothing else that can be done for the area.

Until work is completed in the northbound lanes and paving of the areas that have been removed, the new lanes north of Ray Lawson. Southbound traffic and northbound traffic have been using the centre of the road for some time. Will try to take a look later this week.

Quick shot from yesterday, south of Pinetree way, north of Mineola. It was a mess on Friday with them pouring the curb during business hours without notice. Some cars were trapped in parking lots before the steel plates were put in place and that really pissed people off.

More to come.
Great shots as usual. Don't recall seeing the curb being poured on Friday, north of Mineola, but it was taking place south of Mineola as I drove by.

Dec 7
Since it was snowing while trying out Line 6 today, it put a damper on a few things I was going to do after riding Line 6. By the time I got back to Mississauga, the snow had stopped, and it allowed me to do the things I was planning on doing on Saturday that never happened. Park the car at Cousin's and walk north to Pinewood to see the changes since my last visit. Crews were working on several locations on a Sunday, which is becoming common these days.

All the curb for the northbound lane has been poured from north of Cousin's, as well as from Mineola to Pinewood. Asphalt sidewalks for the east side were paved on Saturday, north of Mineola, with the removal of the one in the northbound lane from Mineola.to Pinewood. Work is underway for the northbound curb and sidewalk from Pinewood to the South Service Rd.

The current plan calls for the grading to take place this week for the curb lane, so paving can take place the following week, even where poles still need to be removed.

The west sidewalk that was paved earlier in the week, from where the wooden sound barrier north end to Englewood, between the guideway and the Mary Fix Creek, is now open.

Subject to weather, all traffic will be shifted to the curb lane before December 27th so construction can start on the guideway in the centre of the road. The push is to get this area done by April 2026.

The northbound track for the King St intersection is ready for concrete to be poured for it. Wrapping of the southbound is still to be done. Maybe it will be done later this week, so concrete can be poured for it.

Crew working on Hillcrest trackwork and will have to check it out later this week as to where they are for the intersection.

A planter retaining wall is being built for the Central Parkway station ramp.

Word is the Eglinton intersection has to be torn up, due to track issues, which would not be surprising, as I have been expecting this may happen for several intersections south of the Hwy 401.

Don't know if this is true or not, but ML is taking a hand on approach to get this line back on track. Will not be surprised if this is true, as 2029 is putting this line 5 years behind schedule and over budget.

Since the Hurontario, Finch and Hamilton LRVs are the same problem car as Ottawa, ML has a choice of building a track system that meets Alstom requirements to have a warranty on the LRVs or have a track gauge issue of 3-5mm gaps with no warranty. The first Hurontario car was sent to Kingston to deal with Ottawa issues to the point that Alstom stopped work on the problem was not prepared to redesign the buggies to meet the NA rail gauge, since there is no market for those LRVs. Since ML bought the LRVs as a backup to the Eglinton Line BBD LRVs delivery problem, they were to be used on the other 3 lines.

Photos will follow when I have time to work on them.

They are rebuilding the center section of the bridge since the traffic lanes were done in 2024. It took most of this year to open the northbound lanes which were done in 2024 so the centre section could be done. No idea why it took so long to open those lanes,

Saturday, December 6th, 2025. The gloominess is real.

@drum118 do you think a phased opening could happen here, with the north half to MCC opening first while work continues on the south end? Seems like the north end is in much better shape compared to the south.

No, based on what is taking place now in the area south of the QEW. If they were not going full throttle south of the elevated section like today, a phase opening could happen subject to the exiting trackwork north of Eglinton.

The only phasing would be for the loop itself, which is subject to some unknowns.

By the end of 2026, tracks should be in place from end to end and maybe for the elevated section. This is subject to how much of the existing trackwork has to be rebuilt.

Until the trackwork is 100% completed from Eglinton to Topflight, no testing of the fleet can take place.

Can you expand on that?
There is no real difference between the Flexity and the Citadis Spirit, other than that the Citadis Spirit is 48m long from my point of view. There are a few minor differences, but there are design changes between Alstom and BBD models..

This means Ottawa Citadis Spirit are a poor choice of vehicles which are the same as Finch and Hurontario LRVs.
