Toronto Hotel X (was Hotel in the Garden) | ?m | 27s | Exhibition Place | NORR

Terrible. Shockingly bad. It already looks like the botched retrofit of a poor '70's building.
I hope this one gets turned down and has to go straight back to the drawing board.

Between this and the Sutton Place massacre, you have to wonder what kind of standards this city is holding itself to.

when I first saw the new rendering I thought that was the renovations to the old Four Seasons Hotel.
This new design is a mess!

What a huge missed opportunity. This site is perfect for some stellar iconic architecture. A landmark by the water, a destination on various levels, something you would see in Europe. This new design lacks grace, refinement and intelligence.

To me this is a missed opportunity to a casino hotel/entertainment centre.

Good lord, the new design has everything - even those glass thingys inserted here and there at the corners of the tower ... which didn't work at 88 Scott Street, either!

We can't allow such terrible architecture to be built anywhere in the city, let alone somewhere so historic and visible as Exhibition Place. I question why there should even be a tower looming over the Princes' Gates. Midrise density could fill up that dead zone on the exhibition grounds without looming over such an important monument. This development is in dire need of refinement and contextual sensitivity.

The powers that be at the Ex are ignoring the great potential that the Ex has. How can they conceive of something horrid as this?

This is one of those rare instances when a surface parking lot is the preferred option until a better idea surfaces.

So the Ex is the preferred site for a hotel/casino...So where does this hotel project stand?
