Now, on to looking at the three different tower design options. The difference between the three, as you'll see, is in tower footprint/shape. Mr. Kuwabara shared that exterior treatment is still a work in progress. I suspect it will become more concrete by the time of the second Design Review Panel meeting, in late April.

Note: they went through these slides rather quickly, and thus I missed the slide "View from the North" for Option 1. Also, please note that I have excluded the "Aerial View" slide for this option to fit under the fifteen image limit. It is visible in the last image of the previous post, however.

That's it for now. There is a special meeting of the Design Review Panel for this project tomorrow at 6:30pm which I'm planning to observe, and if there's anything of interest I'll bring it back to show you here!

I confess I find the height a bit excessive here, irrespective of the design choice.........

That said, design option 2 is my clear favourite, with 3 a strong runner up.

The straight-up cylinder (option 1) is entirely unappealing; or what my niece would call 'Basic'.

3 is the best design for me personally. However I echo your sentiment northern light, I'm all for height but this just feels out of place.

I don't mind the height here either, but if your gonna make an exception to the limit that's going to stand on it's own like this, I feel it needs to be a much more iconic design than we're getting. It has to anchor the skyline, not merely exist.

What a nice sleek looking building for this pier! I can see more of these skyscrapers being built in this attractive area by the the bay if the demand is there! Slowly moving out the industry for condos etc lol ! As seen in the photos up above!

I really want to see pier 8 developed but I wish they went with a group of shorter towers instead of the low rises and this one monolith. This tower is literally 2km from anything more than half its height. At best, I hope that bright crown does enough to bother those mountain NIMBYs. Hopefully it will encourage the city to continue growing in density along the James N corridor.

I wonder if they're going for Hamilton's own Lake Point Tower vibe, it's kind of reminiscent the way it stands alone on the waterfront. It even mimics the curves to a degree, albeit very toned down and with a different aesthetic.
