@wolfewood, yes it's a shame that the factory north of the tracks was demolished. But if I recall correctly, the city wanted the developer to create another access south of the site, aka the extension of Brandon Avenue, which went right through the building. They chose to demolish it entirely rather than retaining parts of it, though...

@iDANIEL you're right, that will definitely transform the area! Looking forward to see the first residents moving in later this year, and seeing the retail portion opening!

Was stopped at the light and noticed some new windows.

These look a lot like the new hotel at Exhibition Place. Outdated and very cheap looking. The saving grace here is the wonderful podium.

Phase 2 is now well underway, they were working on the floor plate of level 10 at the back of the structure. Windows are indeed going up on phase 1, it doesn't look bad, but the the podium spandrel is really upsetting - but only concerns the westernmost side of the restored building.

I try not to be one of those 'it doesn't look like the render' nincompoops since there's often a myriad of reasons why that happens, but the gulf between this:

And this:

is about as wide as the one between Loblaws and Metro/Shoppers as retailers and stewards of heritage properties.

Out of curiosity, why do new developments often end up with that gap between groups of bricks? If you look at @Froggy's pictures of bricks being applied to the base, they're stacked in groups of bricks. They don't follow the floors of the buildings here so that's not the intention. Is it because these are precast bricks and aren't laid individually?

@Froggy, do you know what the watery excavation is for in the fifth pic of your post above?

It appears to be the site for one of the next phases of the project. The scaled model in the presentation centre shows three more towers just north of the tracks, as seen in this picture posted by Solaris earlier.

Does anyone know when we might expect the retail to open?

Would it generally coincide with the residential occupancy?

I'm concerned about the pedestrian realm here and how the retail building will interact with the street. Sidewalk seems too narrow.
