Niagara University campus opens doors to 300 students in Vaughan

Niagara University officially opened the doors to its new Vaughan campus Jan. 21, welcoming more than 300 students.
"It has been my dream to bring a university to Vaughan," Bevilacqua said. "With focus, discipline and excellent partners, this dream has come true."
The university's main campus is in Lewiston, New York.
The 12,000-square-foot new site includes seven classrooms, faculty and administration offices, and student lounge areas, and is located in Cortel Group’s Expo City complex, near the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre subway.
Students studying at the university will have the opportunity to enrol in either the bachelor of professional studies in education or the master of science in education programs.
Both programs are fully accredited by the Ontario College of Teachers.
“Building a complete city means having a post-secondary institution in an urban setting, walking distance from homes, businesses and amenities, and connected by regionally-integrated transit,” Bevilacqua said.

AFAIK, the previous Niagara University in Ontario camps was at De La Salle College on Avenue Road at "the hill". Quite a relocate for students and faculty.

Why do planners still want grass boulevards along the streets in these suburban downtowns? And notice that renderings always show woodlots across the street in these developments? It's like these suburban downtowns aren't being marketed as urban at all.
Along Highway 7 they have a grass boulevard between the sidewalk and the retail units in the building itself. This is much worse than grass between the curb and the sidewalk because it places obstacles between pedestrians and the retail units. It's like the people designing this district have no understanding of what actually makes a traditional commercial main street work. To be fair to Vaughan, you see similar designs with some of the newer buildings downtown as well. I can assure you that architects and engineers have just as much to do with it as planners.

It’s just this complex in Vaughan that has it to be fair. All the other buildings under construction and planned have direct frontage on the sidewalk.
