Today the Globe and Mail reported on a E sports performance venue to be proposed and built by 2025.

Nice pics and all, but where is it proposed? Ex grounds?

Seems like it could be a multi-purpose venue (maybe also used for live music performances, etc.).
Renderings show it west of Hotel X on the south side of Princes' Blvd

Wow it looks like a War of the Worlds alien ship has landed on the CNE grounds !!

From G&M article:
OAM saw a gap in Toronto’s entertainment scene: no modern mid-sized performance venue between buildings such as Roy Thomson Hall, which seats up to 3,000, and Scotiabank Arena, which holds up to 20,000 for concerts and games for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Raptors.
Over several decades now, it's certainly not as though they were the only ones to see Toronto could use a venue like that, but at least now they're probably going to get one built. If it really is going to be privately financed, it's difficult to imagine what any serious objections would be. It fits into the overall plan to have Exhibition Place be more of a year-round destination. The Coliseum is not a suitable music/entertainment venue, and the Ontario Place one (Budweiser Stage) across the road is outdoors and only used in summer.

Mods can add 'Populous' to the thread title.

Populous is of course one of the most prolific designers of sports venues in the world. Looking at the renderings, it seems like they're drawing on elements of their recently completed Tottenham stadium, which is really quite something (including the fact that the entire pitch can retract into the bowels of the stadium to protect it for other types. of non-football events).

I admit, I am impressively surprised that this fad...err, aspect of gaming has made the profit margin to generate funds to build their own expensive venues. As opposed to renting out ones that are already there. So wow, just wow!! 😲

...on the side note: The proposed mouse shaped venue I guess makes this Novelty architecture?
