Your assertion that the Coquitlam streetscape was pedestrian friendly might have have been just a tich more persuasive if there were actually any pedestrians in the photo.

If you want a pedestrian friendly street scape in more or less suburban Vancouver, try the south campus at UBC.

Meanwhile back at Humber Bay Shores this evening, there were many hundreds of people out walking, biking, jogging, sitting on rocks or logs or on the terraces of bars. We particularly enjoyed walking through the butterfly habitat and observing the waterfowl in the wetlands. Then we picked up some vegetables for our dinner and walked home. Very pleasant.

But enough of this merry chitchat with our Maestro. The towers are beginning to stretch upwards at an accelerated pace.

…and yesterday, a much clearer day:

So, why are there drains extending from below this slab, when the other slabs don't have them? It doesn't look like they will be, but they better be covered when it's all finished.

I was salt lake city Utah week ago. I thought they have big downtown.Believe me Etobicoke bay downtown can beat them forget about North York downtown , Mississauga downtown , and uptown Eglinton and Yonge.. Good job Canada..
Funny thing is, this isnt even Etobicoke's city centre but we're still seeing 150-200m buildings sprout up.

The tallest buildings being built these days are buildings for living in though, not for working in, so the tall buildings are built wherever people want to live. That can be in downtowns, but it doesn't have to be. In this case, you have a location with a spectacular location on a gorgeous lake and with a great view of the downtown skyline… that's reason enough for this skyline to exist!
