Toronto Crosstown LRT: Mount Dennis Station and EMSF | ?m | 3s | Metrolinx | IBI Group

Is it my imagination, or are the platforms a lot longer in size than the length of the trains, such that you could convert the line to a small(ish) subway in the future? I know the platforms are not full subway length, but the stations do seem a lot larger than what is needed for the current trains. Did they future proof this line to some degree?

For capacity increases over time, more cars can be added to trains. The maximum would be almost the same length as current Line 1 & 2 subway trains. (5 light rail cars or 6 heavy rail cars.)

Line 4 Sheppard uses 4 heavy rail car length trains and the platform has temporary walls to fit that. If in the next century they need to, they can tear down those walls and use 6 heavy rail car trains on Line 4.

I wonder if any of these facilities might be of use in advance of the LRT opening. The bus terminal at Mt Dennis looks like it's on pace to be complete well before the rest of the station, and with so many routes connecting to it it might be nice to have open.

1. We've waited for 7 years, I'm sure we can all wait another year
2. Nobody is rushing to take public transit now

Many of these stations (and this one more so) are indistinguishable from the disposable architecture of a Loblaws Superstore. They certainly do not speak of the value we should be giving to public buildings and public transportation (imagine Union Station being built today, with the value engineering and unimaginative aesthetic that prevails in this cold and utilitarian station).

Except for the surface section stations, I don't mind the Crosstown stations. Honestly I think it looks quite nice and modern.

They speak of what our architecture/development looks like today. In 50 years they will be a good way to look back at 2020 the same way Union Station is a good way to look back to 1910. By 2070 the look of Loblaws Superstore (if they still exist) will be something different I would imagine.

Still haven't got the glazing or vents for the missing top row for the station yet. Putting up crash wall next to CP line

This can go into 2 different threads since they are 2 different project. The only thing missing at this time is a VIA Station since UPX and GO are stopping at the LRT station now.

Crash wall almost complete next to CP line.

The north end should be ready for forming for UPX and GO platform come Nov.

Noticed signals cover up going over Black Creek elevated section now.

More up on site.
