Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

No video. Just audio.
"Special Board of Directors Meeting Audio Webcast" it says.

Talking about the idea of a hyphenated "Hakimi-Lebovic" station name. There were some quiet chuckles.

There are very supportive of Hakimi-Lebovic.

Remember, the reason we're not calling the station at Eglinton & Yonge, "Eglinton-Yonge Station", is because we were moving away from hyphenated names.

"There's a difference between station naming, and station wayfinding."

They're mentioning how the major cross roads will have their names embedded into the walls of the stations.
Ok so lets see if I am following this correctly. Cross roads will be embedded into the walls of the stations yet the maps will show those stupid proposed names and probably the same names that will be announced when LRT arrives at a stop. Boy talk about confusing people and crazy. The cross road should be the name they announce at the stops and on the maps the wayfinding (proposed stupid names) smaller in brackets on the walls at the stations. Crazy

Unanimous support.

Oh gawds. Not one to normally dwell on station naming, but that choice is pretty stupid. So now we can have a royal blue golf cart parked in a golf course bunker as public art then.

The station name will also be embedded in the wall, in a larger font.
There were references to "Just like St Patrick station". So the blame goes all the way back to the people who named the University subway stations.

This is atrocious from a wayfinding and user experience design point of view. Some people think that names don't matter, but they can and do.

Posting about it on reddit. Hoping it gains traction, since our media outlets do read the /r/Toronto page.

Good grief. How about a Sir John A Nelson Mandella station on one of the Scarborough subway stations. Will that make everyone happy?

Was that intentional? There's something incredible ironic about combining the names of a colonialist, and a man who fought against the oppression of colonialism.
