Theres a new database page for Keele Station on the Crosstown LRT Line. Lots of renders, drawings and construction to discuss!
Caledonia Station bus loop with GO connection.jpg

I still have negative feelings about the western secondary entrance. It's the closest to the apartment towers and I can see the elderly and others having difficulty using the many, many flights of stairs. Need another elevator at Caledonia, at the secondary entrance.

Interesting that Metrolinx (GO) is showing the paved area as a kiss and ride while the Crosstown shows it as a bus loop. Does anyone know if it'll be both or one or the other?

I also wonder why they didn't explore a quicker connection between GO and the LRT. 3 escalators up, walk a bit and then escalators down. Why not a tunnel that leads directly to stairs up to the GO platforms? (other than of course the expense) Was this considered at the time or is the GO station a late-addition?

The 2013 Crosstown rendering of Caledonia station was an early design. It's dumb, but since the construction of the LRT and the construction of the GO station are two completely separate Metrolinx contracts the LRT contractors took the west side and GO contractors took the east side. The only thing they share is the bridge. Since the bus loop is more of an LRT amenity it has now been moved to the west side. They should have just designed and built the whole thing as one project.

A future hub connecting the Crosstown with the Barrie Go line. You'll soon be able to easily live in Barrie and work at Yonge and Eglinton.

East side of Go and the tracks.

The west side of the site. Hard to get a view of the excavation.

Join us at our upcoming open house and learn about the future Caledonia Station, West Portal and Elevated Guideway. The west portal is where vehicles will enter and exit the underground tunnel, just west of Keele Street. Between the portal and Mount Dennis Station, vehicles will travel on bridged tracks on an elevated guideway.

Join Metrolinx and its constructor, Crosslinx Transit Solutions (CTS), at an open house to find out:

  • the design of the West Portal and Elevated Guideway
  • what construction is happening in your neighbourhood
  • when it is happening
  • why it needs to happen
  • how it may impact you
  • who to contact if you have questions/concerns
