Massive 5-tower apartment building proposal in Mississauga hits a roadblock

One of the biggest issues is the current sewer and water system servicing the area may not have capacity to service the proposed development.


The developer has also not demonstrated that a park, satisfying the city’s parkland requirements, can be accommodated on site, the report states.


And there are a number of technical studies and issues that have not been properly addressed including traffic, wind and a sun shadow study.


Five members of the public also had concerns and made deputations in the March meeting.

They've been digging up and relocating watermains and sewers for the Hurontario LRT for two years now. How could they not anticipate future development at one of the city's main transit hubs?

The most noteworthy excerpt (in my opinion): "On consent of the Parties, the Tribunal granted the Region of Peel (“Peel”) and Metrolinx Party Status. Peel sought Party Status solely to ensure an adequate waste management plan is created as the sanitary sewer for the property is at capacity. Metrolinx does not oppose the redevelopment of the Subject Lands but owns and operates land and transportation services directly next to the Subject Lands."
