Interesting, looks like they were draining the pond/swampy pool over the course of those pictures. Very happy to see the house/park structure get torn down...

The ice-skating trail in the renderings looks like a recipe for injury. Pedestrians will attempt to cross the ice on foot. Perhaps I'm seeing the renderings wrong, but in one picture there is a pedestrian path that is directly interrupted by the ice path.

From a few minutes ago:

More sidewalk removal seen above. As well, a lot of the rubble from the shed has been cleared, along with the bench in the middle of the pond.

Orange markers have been placed atop all the tree stumps that were cut down.

The blank concrete wall at Liberty (SW corner of the park) is rather regrettable - it would look so much better if they could waterproof it and coutour the soil so that it flows naturally.

(April 25, 2016) Report from the General Manager, Parks, Forestry and Recreation
Recommendations
The General Manager of Parks, Forestry and Recreation recommends that:


1. City Council authorize the General Manager of the Parks, Forestry and Recreation to accept a cash donation of $250,000.00 from the Board of Management for the Downtown Yonge Business Improvement Area towards the costs of a new outdoor artificial ice rink (skating trail) and rink house as part of the existing College Park rejuvenation capital project.


2. City Council authorize the General Manager of the Parks, Forestry and Recreation to negotiate and enter into a donor agreement with the Board of Management for the Downtown Yonge Business Improvement Area for the $250,000.00 donation towards the costs of a new outdoor artificial ice rink (skating trail) and rink house as part of the existing College Park rejuvenation capital project, on terms and conditions satisfactory to the General Manager and in a form satisfactory to the City Solicitor.
