Soggy Friday or I can't believe they will be pouring P1 next week
(The grainy bits that are seen in the photos are snowflakes, the atmospheric kind not the people kind)
Westside Story: All of the brown coloured forms that are visible in this photo are for the floor of P1, except for a small section along the right side of the photo which is part of P2. There is a new construction staircase in the lower south west corner which starts at P2 and rises to the platform at grade. The other staircase near crane#1 starts at P3 and rises to grade level. The forms that have been used before already have the legs attached and are lifted by the crane into their appropriate spot on the next level up. It seems like it's becoming a 'rinse and repeat' type cycle by removing forms from a lower level completed floor and then repeated on the next upper floor.
Eastside Story: Lots of action in this area over the week. The wall preparations with waterproofing and rebar forms stretch the whole length of the north wall. Forming has begun for the P2 level floor and the construction ramp is being removed down to the lowest level. They appear to be leaving a ledge of about 3m wide along the east wall adjacent to 18 Yonge. This ledge is at the same level as P2 which matches the ramp that will become an exit and entrance to allow garbage and delivery vehicles to enter from Yonge St southbound. This ramp will go from street level to P2 directly.

Freezing Friday the 13th
Westside story: They began pouring P1 yesterday afternoon (centre of picture) and continued on throughout the day, they were still pouring at 11pm when I went to bed. The finisher machines were working on the north west corner while the pour continued after 11pm. I took a picture at 10am this morning with the finished pour. You can still see one of the 'ride on' finishers just to the north and west of the portable toilet
I took another picture this afternoon at 3pm and they are already assembling the walls that will separate P1 from the ground level. I'm seriously impressed
Eastside story: The P2 level appears to be ready for a concrete pour, they are now digging a trench from north to south about 3m west of the 18 Yonge St building, leaving a ledge at the P2 level. In the upper right corner of this photo you can see the rough-in for the ramp that will run from P2 to street level at Yonge St. The original construction ramp is getting smaller and smaller and only one large digger remains on site.

Westside story: Not much new this week, just more of the same really. They continue to work on P1 around the core of the building and should be ready to pour the north section of P1 around the crane#1 concrete pump soon. The up/down car ramp has its next set of walls and partial forming is starting on the ramp from P2 to P1. You can see a bit of a insert/ledge running along the wall of the ramp wall showing what the angle of the ramp going down will look like.

The east wall of the building in being formed, starting from the north wall working towards the south, and the concrete pumping machine attached to crane#3 is ready to go. Westside: Everything looks the same it's all just 3m closer to the surface than last week. Of note, the forming for the ramp from P2 to P1 level is waiting for its rebar.
Eastside: The construction ramp is completely gone from my view. There is a partially completed wall running from north to south 3m east of the 18 Yonge St building

Dear neighbours,
Below is a brief update on the progress of the CIBC Square project.
81 Bay Street
Work on our 81 Bay Street project continues to progress well. The tower core walls are being formed and poured from level P1 to the underside of the ground floor. The parking garage slabs continue to be formed and poured, with completion of the levels P1, P2 and P3 slabs approximately 25%, 60% and 65% complete, respectively. The ground floor slab elements on the west side of the site are currently scheduled to commence installation in May.
Next week, EllisDon our General Contractor will be continuing to work on the concrete foundation and support wall near Yonge Street. This will require lane closures on Yonge street, preventing access to the 18 Yonge Condominium building from Yonge Street between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on April 30th and May 2nd through May 4th. There will be two off-duty Toronto police officers on site during these times directing vehicles and pedestrians to maintain a safe situation.
Also, a Noise Bylaw Exemption permit for delivering reinforcing steel to the job site from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m., Monday through Friday, has been granted to EllisDon by the City of Toronto. The permit is valid for three months. The Board of Directors at both the 18 Yonge Condominium and the Pinnacle Condominium buildings were consulted and agreed as part of the approval process.
Rail corridor
The construction of the foundations supporting the future park over the rail corridor will be completed early next week. We understand this construction phase has involved loud construction activities and we thank you again for your patience.
The next phase of construction will consist of erecting the steel structure to support the park. This activity will begin next week and is expected to last about 10 to 12 months. The steel columns and trusses will once again be installed during the night at night, as we are only authorized to do construction work in the rail corridor when the tracks are taken out of service. EllisDon will be taking various measures to mitigate the impact of this work for our neighbors, including:
• The use of electric equipment for bolting, quieter than pneumatic tools
• More efficient and quieter welding techniques
• Material delivery during the day to reduce the movement of trucks at night
We will continue to share construction updates and work schedules to keep you informed.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is topped off and the crane taken down before they can remove the crane from L Tower across the tracks.
