Sadly, Shopper's feels like a waste of space here that could have gone to many eating places, variety stores, or a dedicated pharmacy. Shopper's is pretty unaffordable to the average person as well, IMO. Other than using the pharmacy, I have not shopped at Shoppers (unless I had to) in over 20 years because of the prices.

I think my biggest issue is the "large store dead zone" aspect of it. It just feels like they didn't need all that space but Shopper's quite literally took the entire north retail space of the east building. That's kind of crazy for anything other than a dedicated grocery store.

All that said, I know enough Retail Leasing People to know that they will take any long-term tenant they can get and Shopper's is a sure bet.

I would not be surprised if Shopper's opens by the end of November.

And the interlocking crew jumped from the west side to the east side, leaving a gap in the middle for now (likely so the construction machines can get in and out of the courtyard without damaging any of the interlocking, I bet). This is right outside the new Shopper's location...

Do we know about any other retail tenants aside from Shoppers and Mandy's? How many other spaces are there left for retail?

I looked into it, and an Arby’s location would need between 1,000-2,000sq ft. So I think there’s still a chance here.

I do hope though that they don’t self-impose some rule about businesses along Trinity having to comport with some idea about high quality distillery retailers. I could see some being unhappy if they put in a Tim’s.

Does make me wonder where the Distillery is with their application for a 99yr lease on the gas land across the street. They’d suggested a diner.

EDIT: Found an updated image from this month, showing where Mandy's will be!

I don't know of any other confirmed tenants, but here is a map (from a CBRE slide deck) that shows the retail spaces. There is supposed to be retail all the way down Trinity Street.

Im going to assume the SW unit on Cherry is already leased, based on this?

Here’s a fun wrinkle right now. I would hope this doesn’t become as much of a problem in the future.

But essentially, late yesterday afternoon, around 3-4pm I watched as this whole area became a mess.

Green light north and south- SB Cherry traffic was a solid line crossing Mill, because everyone stops to drop off or turn into the Green P at the Distillery, and TPS doesn’t bother with traffic violations.

The NB Cherry lane was ALSO stopped up, because the lead car wanted to turn left on the new street (to go park), but couldn’t because of the wall of cars going SB.

I wasn’t around to see how many blocked the box when the lights switched, but it was inevitable.

Sooo, this has the Xmas market factor, but how frequent is this gonna be a problem do you figure?

Oops forgot to post this from Saturday. This is the stairwell right beside the front desk of the west building. I shoved my camera up against the glass and snapped a pic...
