CG Tower makes its mark in Vaughan

Cortel Group announces their latest residential condo tower to be Vaughan's tallest

TORONTO, April 12, 2019 /CNW/ - Cortel Group's much-anticipated CG Tower is the fifth and final tower in the master-planned community of Cortel Group's Expo City. CG Tower is announced as not only the tallest tower in the development, but also the tallest tower in the City of Vaughan. The tower will sit next to Nord Condos on Highway 7, just east of Jane Street. This ambitious project is the collaboration between Cortel Group and Quadrangle, one of Canada's most dynamic design firms, and award-winning landscape architects DTAH.

The 60-storey tower is set for completion in September of 2021. Making its mark on the City of Vaughan was Cortel Group's intention and overall aim. The tower will emerge as a landmark to the Vaughan skyline - anchoring an active urban community complemented by Edgeley Pond & Park - the largest city-owned park located in the heart of the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre (VMC). CG Tower sets itself apart from upcoming developments nearby not only because of its unmatched height, but because its exterior is highlighted by an all brick finish, a homage to the City's low-rise roots and offers a refreshingly different aesthetic from the abundance of glass condos and office buildings in the area.

Richard Witt, lead architect of the project, notes, "CG Tower is going to be a really important building for the evolution of Vaughan. Vaughan has had for a long time a certain kind of character, kind of a low-rise character and with the emergence of the VMC, we're going to see a different kind of building…CG Tower says, definitely, Vaughan's character is changing and this is the character that makes a bold statement about that."

The park setting surrounding the tower was the inspiration for the interior and of course, the roof top terrace presents a view of the emerging city unlike any in the area. Romina Cortellucci, Director of Marketing & Sales for Cortel Group adds, "We believe that this tower is not only a catalyst, but a symbol of urban growth and sustainability."

The CG Tower is steps away from the most recent extension of the TTC Subway Station making commuting convenient and easy. This urban centre will change the way young professionals live, work and play. Strategically located in the heart of Vaughan's new downtown core, residents will be living minutes from dining, shopping, parks and all that Vaughan has to offer.

Heavy equipment on site for excavation currently sits around the sales centre. The sales centre is still open.

That looks like shoring for the tower, correct? Odd how the sales centre is still there..

Yes, the shoring equipment had been there for a couple of weeks. Not sue how far along sales are, but I'd guess they're between 50-70% sold.

This was on the door:

There is a really cool model inside, it shows the VCC area and how it will look when built out. It was too far in the back
for me to get a photo unfortunately..

They've been shoring around the sales centre for a few weeks. I've never seen this before. Looks like they've tried keeping the sales centre open for as long as possible, while starting construction on the tower.
