To me the bigger fail is that we don't have Montreal involved. But their stadium situation is much worse.

You are right that the US could have hosted on its own. And I do think they included Canada and Mexico to make sure there were no competing bids.

But it does appear that joint hosting is the way of the future. The 2030 World Cup has 6 hosts over 3 continents.

US lost the 2022 bid to Qatar, so they included Canada and Mexico to guarantee they got 2026 since CONCACAF was the confederation that didn't host a world cup for the longest at the time (sorry OFC).

The World Cup games that Toronto is hosting, via Ben Steiner on X.

The Germany and Croatia games will get a lot of international attention, with both being strong European sides.

There is a chance Toronto could host powerhouses England or Portugal in the Round of 32 if either is a runner-up in their respective group. It has the potential to be Cristiano Ronaldo's last international game.

The City is still moving forward with that $10M+ plan to purchase & resell luxury boxes and other tickets, right? So they should make a nice profit, especially if Italy makes it out of the playoff.

I would assume that Colombia-Croatia is the most likely matchup for the RO32 game which would be pretty interesting (even if less so than Portugal or England)

Also surprised that FIFA didn't dump the Ecuador-Curacao game on us, instead of Germany-Ivory Coast.

Looks like I'll be buying Ghana-Panama tickets....
