That's promising from afar; it just needs to look good up close too.
I haven’t been impressed by anything coming from 365 or Alter. With Alter, there’s a lot of disconnect between the various elements, especially when comparing the podium to the tower portion. I’ve turned most of my attention to the next two buildings going up a few blocks north.
The podium is atrocious.
I took some of this one today too.
First, I don't get what's so "atrocious" about the podium; I like the updated 60s vibe going on here:
The big thing here is the panels up top though, and I'm hoping what I seeing here (in the last photo) is Tridel and aA experimenting with them to find a type that is acceptable. The first batch that were put up are simply awful.
The furthest up in the last pic are the flattest… but I still think that they need to be full length sheets with no waist-height mullion of any kind. This could look great with the right product.
Second-from-the-bottom looks atrocious.
Last week, from Sherbourne and Gerrard:
Need to see what this balcony glass is going to look like. Could go either way right now.
The Granby facing facade of 365 is just so aesthetically bankrupt. Nice to see it swoop to Canderel/G+C level of competence.
Today: Extra tall formwork, presumably for the mechanical penthouse
I'm with i42 on this one, I dig the ultra modernist podium and the clean boldness of the tower. It's not as overwhelming in person as it appears in some pictures. Also, building next to 365 is the architectural equivalent of hiring a hideously ugly person to walk around with you everywhere so you look better by comparison.
Looks like the mechanical levels are being formed, very tall columns on the roof - north side:
