It looks weird in that aerial view, like a stack of pancakes slumped over and about to spill. But I don't mind how it presents at street level.

It's been some time but, IIRC, the site was originally approved with 3 or 4 high rise office buildings and ground floor retail. The office market was in the toilet at the time. The existing building was built half as tall as the approved zoning. This expansion shouldn't need to go through any zoning.

The Grocery Store was the same. The Kitchen Plus strip plaza was one office building. Two more on the parking lot and podium building facing East Liberty.

The added bulk does wonders for that spot and a direction that would help the rest of LV. The strip mall needs a similar treatment as does the grocery store. The parking lot needs to be underground but above that (at grade) should be kept free of buildings entirely. LV desperately needs a park or large public square to pull it altogether and the parking lot is where it needs to go.
